Treat Your Friends to a Local Experience With Square Gift Cards

Square Introduces the Best Way to Buy Gift Cards Right From Your Phone

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/10/12 -- Square, the company making commerce easy for everyone, has launched a new way to send meaningful gifts to friends anywhere; Square gift cards. There are now a quarter of a million local businesses across the country accepting gift cards. Using Square Wallet on their phone, customers can treat their friends to their favorite local business.

Square gift cards are fun to send and fun to use. Anyone can share a local shopping experience with her friends and family instantly from their phone. Square Wallet automatically saves gift cards so customers can easily redeem them.

"I just sent my parents a gift to their favorite bookstore, Left Bank Books in St. Louis," said Square co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey. "It's incredibly fun to give my friends unique and meaningful gifts, treat them to their favorite neighborhood places, all from my couch."

Cask Store, an artisanal beverage purveyor in San Francisco, sees a spike in sales around the holidays from people buying gifts. "We find a lot of customers have a hard time deciding exactly what to get their friends and family," said Doug Dalton, owner of Cask. "Gift cards make it easier for people to come in and choose their perfect bottle of wine -- which makes everyone happy."

Historically gift card programs have been complicated, cumbersome and expensive for businesses. Square enables businesses to seamlessly accept gift cards at no additional cost with no additional tools.

Square Wallet is the easy and fast way to discover nearby businesses, earn rewards and pay with your phone. Customers can pay with Square Wallet at over 250,000 businesses in the U.S., including Starbucks.

The deluge of IoT sensor data collected from connected devices and the powerful AI required to make that data actionable are giving rise to a hybrid ecosystem in which cloud, on-prem and edge processes become interweaved. Attendees will learn how emerging composable infrastructure solutions deliver the adaptive architecture needed to manage this new data reality. Machine learning algorithms can better anticipate data storms and automate resources to support surges, including fully scalable GPU-c...
Predicting the future has never been more challenging - not because of the lack of data but because of the flood of ungoverned and risk laden information. Microsoft states that 2.5 exabytes of data are created every day. Expectations and reliance on data are being pushed to the limits, as demands around hybrid options continue to grow.

However, Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be set to disrupt the patent system as we know it. This talk will examine how AI may change the patent landscape in the years to come. Furthermore, ways in which companies can best protect their AI related inventions will be examined from both a US and...
The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next...
