NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 05/13/13 -- The New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA-NY) today announced the 2013 recipients of the chapter's three most important individual awards.

The winners are:

Emmanuel Tchividjian, a past-president of PRSA-NY and an active board member, was selected for the 2013 President's Award, which honors outstanding contributions to PRSA-NY. Tchividjian is Senior Vice President, Executive Director & Chief Ethics Officer for Ruder Finn and has been at the agency since 1997. He began working at the agency on the Government of Switzerland's account on issues relating to the World War II and the Holocaust.

Paul J. Gennaro, senior vice president - corporate communications and chief communications officer of AECOM, will receive the 2013 John W. Hill Award, the chapter's most prestigious individual recognition. Named for the founder of Hill+Knowlton Strategies and conferred annually since 1977, it is presented for leadership in the practice of public relations, demonstration of the highest standards of ethical conduct and service to the public. The award is underwritten by Hill+Knowlton Strategies.

David M. Grant, a former PRSA president and founder and president of LVM Group, Inc., has been selected to receive the Philip Dorf Award. Instituted in 1995, this award recognizes individuals who have an outstanding record of mentoring. It honors the memory of Philip Dorf, who was an inspiration and mentor to countless young professionals.

The awards will be presented at the PRSA-NY's 26th Annual Big Apple Gala awards ceremony on Thursday, May 23, 2013. The ceremony honors public relations professionals in the tri-state area for individual accomplishments and execution of outstanding campaigns.

"This year's president's award winner, Emmanuel Tchividjian, has served PRSA-NY for more than a decade in a variety of roles including past president and his current role as ethics chair. He is the embodiment of dignity and volunteerism and serves as a role model for PR practitioners," said Lea-Ann Germinder, APR, Fellow PRSA, president of PRSA-NY and president of Germinder & Associates.

Mr. Tchividjian is certified as a compliance & ethics professional from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and is a member of the Ethics & Compliance Officers Association. He serves as the Chapter's ethics chair and recently agreed to serve as a member contact for the Chapter's whistleblower policy. In addition, Mr. Tchividjian conducts the Big Apple workshop for members and non-members to learn how to submit to the Big Apple, one of the most important Chapter events. He is mutually admired by everyone on the board for his quiet yet substantial dedication.

"Our John W. Hill honoree, Paul Gennaro, and Philip Dorf winner, David Grant, set the bar very high this year in terms of accomplishments and industry contributions," said Henry Feintuch, president-elect, PRSA-NY and president of Feintuch Communications. "If there's ever a proof point needed for someone thinking of entering our industry and charting a professional career path, just look to Paul and David as role models."

Mr. Gennaro has led corporate communications for AECOM since 2006, executing communication strategies during a period of dramatic growth for the company that has included the doubling of the workforce, tripling of revenue and execution of more than 40 acquisitions. He has also supported the company's initial public offering (IPO) and a global rebrand. Mr. Gennaro also serves as chairman of the Communications Advisory Board for Ethisphere Institute and on the board of advisors for the Emory University Center of Ethics. In 2010, he was awarded the International Business Award for Communication Executive of the Year and 2013 PR Professional of the Year by PRWeek.

As a PRSA Fellow, Mr. Grant founded PRSA-NY's mentorship program pairing new members with industry legends. From being a member of the PRSA College of Fellows to serving in a number of PRSA leadership roles, he enjoys a longstanding reputation as a dedicated mentor in the public relations profession.

In 1974, Mr. Grant founded LVM Group, a full-service public relations, investor relations and marketing communications firm. LVM Group has built a solid reputation under his guidance by providing clients with personal service and attention.

Mr. Grant's leadership in the public relations industry branches past his roles in PRSA. He is a member of R.E.N.T. (Real Estate Networking & Transactions), the oldest New York City real estate networking group; a member of the Construction Writers Association; and a member of New York Business Forum. He has frequently lectured and written on various aspects of public relations.

Business and marketing professionals and public relations practitioners are invited to join PRSA-NY in celebrating the highest standards of professional practice and public service at the Big Apple Awards gala. The ceremony is set for Thursday, May 23, at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Columbus Circle. Attendees will hear from David Ushery, NBC 4 New York's veteran anchor and reporter and the 2013 'Big Apple Award for Excellence in Journalism' honoree, who will deliver remarks. What happens when the different parts of a vehicle become smarter than the vehicle itself? As we move toward the era of smart everything, hundreds of entities in a vehicle that communicate with each other, the vehicle and external systems create a need for identity orchestration so that all entities work as a conglomerate. Much like an orchestra without a conductor, without the ability to secure, control, and connect the link between a vehicle’s head unit, devices, and systems and to manage the ...

However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smar...
