The Mobile Commerce News Weekly is an online newsletter made up of the most interesting news, articles and links related to mobile commerce and marketing, mobile payments, mobile money, e-wallets, mobile banking, mobile ads and mobile security that I run across each week.  I am specifically targeting market size and market trend information.

Commerce transactions in the U.S. completed on mobile phones and tablets are expected to total $114 billion in 2014, research firm Forrester is forecasting. Two-thirds of those sales, or about $76 billion, will happen via tablet computers, while the remainder will occur on phones.  Read Original Content

Smartphone-generated retail revenue jumped 115.9 percent year-over-year in April, according to Branding Brand's Mobile Commerce Index. In addition, smartphone visits to and orders from mobile retail websites both jumped 83.8 and 96.4 percent year-over-year, respectively, in April.  Read Original Content

Publicis Groupe and Facebook have signed a multi-year partnership deal worth around $500m (£297m).  The $500 million figure, first reported by Ad Age, includes ad spend and will give favorable rates on Facebook inventory to Publicis’ agencies.  Read Original Content

Amazon has launched a new initiative alongside Twitter this week. The two companies have come together to make mobile shopping a little easier for consumers. The new initiative takes the form of #AmazonCart, which allows people to use a simple hashtag on Twitter to add products to their Amazon shopping cart.  Read Original Content

The BlackSalt Fish Market located in Northwest Washington sells dozens of different types of fish and shellfish, and has assigned QR codes to every one of them in order to provide customers with the information they need to answer more of their questions, and to bring that knowledge home with them on their mobile devices.  Read Original Content

The Internet of Things (IoT), in all its myriad manifestations, has great potential. Much of that potential comes from the evolving data management and analytic (DMA) technologies and processes that allow us to gain insight from all of the IoT data that can be generated and gathered. This potential may never be met as those data sets are tied to specific industry verticals and single markets, with no clear way to use IoT data and sensor analytics to fulfill the hype being given the IoT today.
