Continuum Veterans Foundation Helps 81 Veterans Secure Civilian Jobs through Hire Heroes USA

Continuum Veterans Foundation, helping returning troops find jobs in the IT industry, has confirmed that with a donation of $50,000 last November, Hire Heroes USA provided career coaching, resume revision and networking assistance to 142 transitioning troops, veterans and spouses, and confirmed 81 hired in civilian jobs. With the donation, the Continuum Veterans Foundation committed to helping at least 50 veterans finds jobs in 2014. Hire Heroes USA has well surpassed its goal with still half the year remaining.

“We are happy to have helped so many veterans in their quest to transition from military service to the civilian workforce through the support of the Continuum Veterans Foundation,” said Brian Stann, President and CEO of Hire Heroes USA. “Continuum sets a notable example of supporting our troops after their dedicated service to our country, and at a time when they need help identifying and expressing their value and skillsets to prospective employers. We look forward to continuing our mission in supporting our veterans and their spouses with the support of the Continuum Veterans Foundation.”

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Hire Heroes USA is dedicated to creating job opportunities for U.S. military veterans and their spouses through personalized employment training and corporate engagement. Hire Heroes USA’s primary goal is to lower the veteran unemployment rate, measured by the organization’s ability to help veterans and their spouses gain employment by empowering them with the skills to successfully represent themselves on their resume, when delivering their value proposition and during interviews.

In July 2012, the Continuum Veterans Foundation was established by Continuum, the technology industry's only channel-exclusive provider of fully integrated managed IT services solutions, to provide financial support to local and national charities focusing on helping veterans find jobs in IT. Continuum is the primary donor to the Continuum Veterans Foundation with a percentage of revenue from its Service Desk going to the Foundation. As well, Continuum provides preferential consideration in hiring veterans at the company.

“We believe it is essential for successful companies to stand for a purpose beyond revenue and to support causes far greater than itself,” said Michael George, CEO at Continuum. “Continuum is committed to hiring veterans and calls upon other U.S. businesses to do the same. Uniquely skilled, veterans come with commitment, adaptability and loyalty, and because of their service to our country and preserving our freedom and independence, they deserve great opportunity. We are delighted that our investment in Hire Heroes USA has helped so many veterans transition to non-military jobs, and we look toward a hopeful future for our veterans.”

Hire Heroes USA assisted veterans with career transition primarily through its online and telephone coaching program as well as its in-person Warrior Transition Workshops. For more information on Hire Heroes USA, visit: https://www.hireheroesusa.org/. On Twitter, follow @HireHeroesUSA.

The deluge of IoT sensor data collected from connected devices and the powerful AI required to make that data actionable are giving rise to a hybrid ecosystem in which cloud, on-prem and edge processes become interweaved. Attendees will learn how emerging composable infrastructure solutions deliver the adaptive architecture needed to manage this new data reality. Machine learning algorithms can better anticipate data storms and automate resources to support surges, including fully scalable GPU-c...
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...
The explosion of new web/cloud/IoT-based applications and the data they generate are transforming our world right before our eyes. In this rush to adopt these new technologies, organizations are often ignoring fundamental questions concerning who owns the data and failing to ask for permission to conduct invasive surveillance of their customers. Organizations that are not transparent about how their systems gather data telemetry without offering shared data ownership risk product rejection, regu...

Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.

Enterprises have taken advantage of IoT to achieve important revenue and cost advantages. What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.
As IoT continues to increase momentum, so does the associated risk. Secure Device Lifecycle Management (DLM) is ranked as one of the most important technology areas of IoT. Driving this trend is the realization that secure support for IoT devices provides companies the ability to deliver high-quality, reliable, secure offerings faster, create new revenue streams, and reduce support costs, all while building a competitive advantage in their markets. In this session, we will use customer use cases...
