ImmersiFind Inc. to License Its Multi-Lingual, Multi-Platform Local Search Services to La Gran Guia S.A., Chile's Largest Independent Directory Publisher

SANTIAGO, CHILE and VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/04/09 -- ImmersiFind Inc., the leading enabler of multi-platform local search solutions for the local search publisher community, announced today that it has signed a multi-year agreement to license its full suite of local search platforms to La Gran Guia S.A. Services, publisher of telephone directories which serve the country of Chile through its websites www.amarillas.com and www.mercantil.com.

ImmersiFind(TM) offers the most powerful and intuitive local search options available to consumers, making it an easy and powerful way to find local businesses and services as well as individuals. The platform is based on three underlying experiences: Search, Select & Share, with award winning product features in each of these experiences. They include:

- Search: Powerful search options including searching via rich mapping partners, advanced keywords, neighborhoods of interest as well as by proximity to preselected locations. SMS/text based search as well as WAP search are also key platform features. Hyper local mini-browsers make search refinements only a click away.

- Select: Rich and relevant local content, which sets the ImmersiFind(TM) platform apart from other platform providers, including the ability to seamlessly upload photos, videos and other immersive media.

- Share: Sophisticated text messaging, e-mail forwarding, and Facebook social media referral widgets make sharing the search results a snap.

The addition of local search enhancements, including weather forecasts, local news and local traffic maps enhance the user experience, making it unique in the Local search platform industry.

In addition to the ImmersiFind(TM) online platform, the company has recently unveiled leading edge mobile and voice activated local search platforms addressing the SMS/Text & Smartphone (iPhone and BlackBerry) mobile segments. All platforms offer leading edge technology and are designed to facilitate the publisher's entry into the multi-platform world.

"We are delighted to have www.amarillas.com and La Gran Guia as our newest ImmersiFind customer. Throughout our discussions with them, I was very impressed with their energy and desire to succeed within the new media world and it is clear that the Gran Guia team have fully embraced the enormous technology shift to the online and mobile worlds. Their outstanding management team have enabled them to quickly become the dominant directory publisher in Chile and we couldn't be happier having them as a client. We look forward to several years of local search success together," said David Charron, Vice-President and General Manager of ImmersiFind Inc (www.immersifind.com).

Fulvio Stacchetti, General Manager of La Gran Guia added, "We looked around at our options and came to the conclusion that ImmersiFind speaks our language and really acts as a technology partner, as opposed to just a technology provider. Being in the publishing industry themselves makes us feel comfortable that they live and breathe our business and their platform has been successfully tested with bonafide results. I was impressed with their model, their people and level of support that they can give us even if we are countries apart."

While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists discussed what things are the most important, which will have the most profound e...
The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
