CEO Amir Sarhangi to Present "Why Mobile Operators' IP Communications Belong in the Cloud" at CTIA Super Mobility Week

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jibe Mobile www.jibemobile.com, the Cloud Communications Company for Mobile Operators, today announced that Jibe has been named as a CTIA Startup Lab program finalist. Showcasing Jibe's cloud-based hosted service at CTIA's Super Mobility Week's Startup Lab in Las Vegas, Jibe's CEO and co-founder Amir Sarhangi will address how mobile operators can more effectively compete with the OTT threats by using the cloud to deliver the next generation of communications services for mobile subscribers in his session "Why IP Communications Belongs in the Cloud".

"We are honored to be selected as a CTIA Startup Lab finalist. This recognition reinforces the role that Jibe's cloud is playing for mobile operators to deliver rich IP-based video calling, group chat and sharing communications services that rival the best of OTT," said Amir Sarhangi, CEO Jibe Mobile. "Jibe's cloud is already disrupting the position of traditional infrastructure vendors by enabling carriers to rapidly launch and globally connect such communication services over LTE and WiFi as the mobile industry makes the major transition from voice and SMS to IP networks."

"CTIA is very excited to have Jibe Mobile as a CTIA Startup Lab finalist," said Heather Blanchard, Director of Wireless Internet Development at CTIA – The Wireless Association. "CTIA selected Jibe Mobile as a finalist for their high potential to grow the mobile marketplace. Jibe Mobile has advanced the approach to cloud services to allow mobile operators to quickly launch and connect consumers with the most innovative IP communications services."

Companies were nominated by CTIA and mobile community leaders from 1871, Apptual, Austin Technology Incubator, BootstrapLabs, Hackers and Founders, LaunchHub, MoDev, Mobile Monday, Momentum, Orange Labs, Rocketspace, Telecom Council and University College of London - DECIDE. Finalists were chosen by the CTIA Investor Panel comprised of judges from Blumberg Capital, Caten McGuire, Cooley LLP, Docomo Capital, Ericsson, Fortify Ventures, Honda, Intel Capital, Khosla Ventures, LG Electronics Mobile, mBlox, Orange Labs, Samsung, Sony Growth Ventures and Innovation, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.

Jibe Mobile's IP Communications Cloud — including Jibe's Private Cloud, Public Cloud and brandable IP consumer communications client — is built for carriers to rapidly and cost-effectively launch 'the new native' experience for mobile consumers everywhere. Jibe's open end-to-end standards-based cloud technology platform allows carriers to launch their IP networks in weeks.  One connection to Jibe's RCS Hub provides  interconnect services for mobile operators to bring their subscribers together throughout the world.

Leveraging Jibe's end-to-end cloud and white label messaging client, Japan's Softbank-owned Sprint launched its Messaging Plus RCS service powered by Jibe in the US in late 2013, and is now preloading the client on most new Android-powered smartphones. Messaging Plus lets Android and iPhone consumers use a single application to connect with family and friends on any wireless carrier in North America via text, instant messaging, group messaging, and video chat, as well as sharing of photos and videos.

Deutsche Telekom has announced they will deploy Jibe's RCS services in European markets and interconnect via Jibe's Cloud and RCS Hub. Deutsche Telekom's regional operating companies in Romania and Slovakia have already launched joyn services developed by Jibe Mobile and delivered over Jibe's IP Communication Cloud in Q2 2014.

In North America and Europe, mobile subscriber can download the Jibe powered app (http://www.jibemobile.com/getapp/) to access the service available in your country.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
The term "digital transformation" (DX) is being used by everyone for just about any company initiative that involves technology, the web, ecommerce, software, or even customer experience. While the term has certainly turned into a buzzword with a lot of hype, the transition to a more connected, digital world is real and comes with real challenges. In his opening keynote, Four Essentials To Become DX Hero Status Now, Jonathan Hoppe, Co-Founder and CTO of Total Uptime Technologies, shared that ...
Every organization is facing their own Digital Transformation as they attempt to stay ahead of the competition, or worse, just keep up. Each new opportunity, whether embracing machine learning, IoT, or a cloud migration, seems to bring new development, deployment, and management models. The results are more diverse and federated computing models than any time in our history.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...
